Searching ERIC:
- University Library's homepage
http://library.csustan.edu/
- Under Find Journal Articles, click Education.
- Click on ERIC (through FirstSearch).
- Try starting with a keyword search.
- Use core terms or phrases for your search, not sentences. If you are
unsure of the correct terminology to represent the concepts in your search,
browse the online thesaurus by clicking on Subjects.
- Separate different concepts with the word and (for
example, reading instruction and action research).
- You may limit your results to journal articles or to documents.
- Browse through the results and look at the descriptors to get
ideas for other search terms.
Finding Articles:
- When you limit to journal articles, also limit to subscriptions
held by my library to find articles from journals
subscribed by the University Library.
- Limit to Peer Reviewed for journal articles validated by
scholars in the field.
- The book/building California State University, Stanislaus icon at the
beginning of an ERIC Journal record means
our library subscribes to that journal.
- Click
to see if the article is available in full-text
online.
- You may obtain articles from journals that we do not subscribe in
the library by submitting an
online Interlibrary Loan Form. Click on Interlibrary Loan under
Services on the library's homepage. Use the article request form
(photocopy).
Finding Documents:
- When you limit to documents, also limit to full text.
- Many of the ERIC documents from 1993-present are now
available online as PDF files.
- To retrieve the full text of ERIC documents online, click on the Access ERIC Full Text
link under the document title on the results list, or click
on the detailed record to retrieve the full
text of the document online.
- Documents from 1966-present that are not available online may be
available on microfiche in the ERIC file cabinets in the reference section.
Use the accession number (ED plus six digits) to locate the microfiche.
- Bring the microfiche to the Circulation Desk for assistance with the
reader/printer machine.
- You may obtain documents that we do not own in
the library by submitting an
online Interlibrary Loan Form. Click on Interlibrary Loan under
Services on the library's homepage. Use the book request form.
Remote Access:
- When you click on the name of the database from off-campus, enter
either your CSUStan
e-mail ID before the @ sign or the 14 digit library ID number (begins
with "209") used prior to fall semester 2008.
