Special Collections and Archives

The University Library's Special Collections unit contains a wide range of collections of local and regional interest. Notable collections include the Sayad Assyrian Collection, the Dias Photographic Collection, a Stanislaus County and Cities Historical Documents collection, as well as numerous smaller manuscript collections. The Library also holds a small rare book collection with an emphasis on state and local history, including a representative collection of California fine printing.


The University Archives serves as a repository for materials documenting the history of California State University, Stanislaus and includes retrospective campus publications such as newsletters, catalogs, press releases, photographs, the Signal student newspaper, campus yearbooks, as well as other documents and ephemera representing various campus entities.


The Special Collections and University Archives reading room (L201) maintains public service hours one morning a week on Fridays, 9:00am to 1:00pm, during the regular academic year. Access to the collections can be arranged at other times by appointment only.
