If you are using a computer located off-campus, you can access the various Web-based databases and indexes that the Library subscribes to by using the Library’s proxy server. You must first configure your Web browser to utilize the Library’s proxy server. Instructions for configuring Netscape Navigator versions 2.x and 3.x for MS Windows and Macintosh computers are provided below.

  1. On the Options menu select "Network Preferences".

  1. Click on the "Proxies" tab.
  2. Select the Automatic Configuration check box.
  3. For the Configuration Location (URL), enter http://wwwlibrary.csustan.edu/proxy.pac
  4. Click on "OK."

After configuring your Web browser to use the Library’s proxy server, the next time you select a restricted web database you will be prompted for a username and password.

  1. For the "User Name", enter your CSUS library card number (no spaces).
  2. For the "Password", enter the first four characters of your last name (lower case, no spaces).
